Who it's for
Good for
- ProMotion 120Hz on a big 12.9-inch screen
- Drawing with Apple Pencil (1st gen)
- Four speakers for movies
- Smart Keyboard support
Not for
- Face ID, USB-C or Apple Pencil 2
- The latest iPadOS features (updates ended at iPadOS 17)
Our verdict
The cheapest big-screen iPad with ProMotion. Great for drawing and media; skip it if you need current software, and look at the 3rd gen for USB-C and Apple Pencil 2.
