Best iPads under $150 buying guide

The best picks under $150

  • iPad 8: 10.2-inch screen, A12 chip and Apple Pencil (1st gen) support. Runs iPadOS 26, so it's the best long-term pick here.
  • iPad Air 10.5 (2019): the same A12 chip in a thinner body with a laminated screen. Also runs iPadOS 26.
  • iPad 7: the same 10.2-inch screen for less. It stops at iPadOS 18.
  • iPad Pro 9.7 and 10.5: four speakers and Apple Pencil support. The 10.5 has a 120Hz screen. They stop at iPadOS 16 and 17.
  • iPad 5, iPad 6, iPad mini 4 and iPad Air 9.7: the lowest prices, for video, reading and FaceTime. They stop between iPadOS 15 and 17.

What to keep in mind

Older iPads keep running the apps they have, but some newer apps won't install on them. If you want it to last, pick the iPad 8 or iPad Air 10.5.

What the grades mean

Excellent, Good and Fair only differ in how the outside looks. Every grade passes the same tests, has battery health of 80% or higher and gets the same 1-year warranty, which also covers accidental damage like a cracked screen or a drop.
