2015 MacBook Pro buying guide

13-inch or 15-inch

  • 13-inch (Early 2015): dual-core Intel Core i5 and Intel Iris graphics, about 3.5 pounds. The easy one to carry every day.
  • 15-inch (Mid 2015): quad-core Intel Core i7 and a bigger screen, about 4.5 pounds. Some configurations add AMD Radeon graphics.

Ports

Both have HDMI, two USB-A ports, two Thunderbolt 2 ports, an SD card slot, a headphone jack and MagSafe 2 charging. You can plug in drives, cameras and monitors without adapters.

Software

The 2015 MacBook Pro runs up to macOS Monterey (version 12). Current browsers and web apps like Google Docs and Microsoft 365 on the web work, but many newer Mac apps need macOS 13 or later, so check before you buy.

What the grades mean

Excellent, Good and Fair only differ in how the outside looks. Every grade passes the same tests, has battery health of 80% or higher and gets the same 1-year warranty, which also covers accidental damage like a cracked screen or a drop.
