Who it's for
Good for
- Big 12.9-inch ProMotion display
- Apple Pencil 2 and Magic Keyboard with trackpad
- Ultra wide camera and LiDAR scanner
- Drawing and creative work
Not for
- Apple Intelligence features (needs M1 or newer)
- A mini-LED XDR display (starts with the 5th gen)
Our verdict
A modest step up from the 3rd gen with LiDAR and an ultra wide camera. A solid big-screen iPad; the 5th gen's M1 chip and mini-LED display are the bigger upgrade.
