Who it's for
Good for
- Liquid Retina XDR mini-LED display for HDR photo and video
- M1 chip with Apple Intelligence support
- Thunderbolt for fast drives and displays
- Apple Pencil 2 and Magic Keyboard
Not for
- Apple Pencil Pro
- Buyers who mostly stream and browse (an Air costs less)
Our verdict
The first iPad with the mini-LED XDR screen and an M1 chip. Excellent for HDR video and photo work; the 6th gen adds M2 and Pencil hover but is otherwise very similar.
