Who it's for
Good for
- Travel and writing: about 2 lb
- Retina screen in a silent, fanless body
- Secondary laptop for notes and web
Not for
- Anything demanding (fanless Core m3/i5 chip)
- Multiple ports (one USB-C)
- Apps that need macOS 14 or later (tops out at Ventura)
Our verdict
The last and fastest 12-inch MacBook, supported through macOS Ventura. Buy it as a light travel or writing machine, not as your only computer.
