Who it's for
Good for
- Retina display and a faster chip than the 2017 Air
- Students who want a sharp screen on a budget
- Light photo editing and coding
Not for
- Touch Bar fans (this is the function-key model)
- Software requiring macOS 14 or later (tops out at Ventura)
Our verdict
The 2017 13-inch Pro without Touch Bar. A solid budget MacBook with a Retina display and a real step up from the 2017 Air.
