Who it's for
Good for
- Big 15-inch Retina display with dedicated graphics
- Touch Bar, Touch ID and four Thunderbolt 3 ports
- Video editing and design on a budget
Not for
- Apps that need macOS 13 or later (tops out at macOS 12 Monterey)
- Butterfly keyboard skeptics
- Battery life compared with Apple silicon
Our verdict
The first 15-inch Touch Bar Pro: big screen, quad-core i7 and a dedicated GPU. Good value for design or video students; the 2017 model adds one more macOS version for a little more.
