Who it's for
Good for
- Netflix, YouTube and FaceTime
- Reading, email and web browsing
- A first iPad for a child, with Screen Time limits
- Kitchen recipes and video calls
Not for
- Apple Pencil (not supported)
- Newer apps that need iPadOS 17 or later
- Gaming beyond casual titles
Our verdict
The cheapest way to get a real iPad. Runs the essentials well, but it stopped getting iPadOS updates at 16, so some newer apps won't install. Buy it for video, reading and calls, not as a long-term main device.
